The very beginning of the series starts with the image of a woman performing a solitary Wiccan ritual where she is asking for protection. When she is killed, the police officers investigating identify her as a solitary practitioner of Witchcraft.

Wiccan Practitioners
Throughout the rest of the series, the concept of Witchcraft and Wicca is mainly displayed through the Charmed Ones. However, there are Wiccan practitioners who do appear at random.

In the series, while mostly showing a modified understanding of Wicca and Witchcraft to increase entertainment value, there do appear true Wiccan rituals and beliefs throuhout the series. For example, in the first episode of Season Two, the Charmed sisters participate in a solstice ritual in order to connect to the power of the earth. Similarly, in the Halloween episode of the show, which occurs in Season Three, the sisters are transported back in time to Salem before the witch trials where they must learn the "old magic", including how to use gifts from nature in their rituals. They also rely on their Book of Shadows, something that is prevalent in Wicca.

The Charmed Ones also perform Wiccan and Pagan rituals throughout the series. In one episode they perform a memory ritual for two Witches that they had lost during the course of the episode. They also create rituals around some of their spells, which involve candles, herbs, or crystals.

Finally, the Charmed Ones do identify as a coven, even though it is only the three of them at any given time.
